Sunday’s Trouvailles #17
Findings from the road
This is Sunday’s Trouvailles, my Sunday morning newsletter, which is the online version of a favourite Parisian weekend activity - browsing a brocante, local market or garage sale in search of trouvailles (lucky finds). Every two weeks, I’ll share the best of my cultural findings from the week and the archives, aka my piles of saved links, screenshots from my camera roll and paper treasures stashed in boxes.
Hello, hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday!
I’m currently on a road trip around Portugal and keeping the ratio of steps and pastéis de nata well balanced.

L’Aquila’s stunning architecture
In 2009, the capital of Abruzzo, L’Aquila, was severely hit by an earthquake and the city got significantly damaged.
While I have seen the region gaining some attention from tourists in recent years, it’s not to the level that nearby Umbria has. So I was pleased to see the city has been named City of Culture 2026 and some stunning buildings have been restored and are open to the public for the first time since the earthquake. You can admire some here:

Leonora Carrington’s movie
I haven’t seen the Leonora Carrington exhibition at Musée de Luxembourg yet, but I’m curious to see this newly translated movie, Leonora in the Morning Light, adapted from a biographical novel by Elena Poniatowska.
