Hello and welcome to all new subscribers!
While you read this newsletter, I will be in Tokyo starting my Japan trip. There will be fewer posts for the next couple of weeks as I travel, but I have a lot planned for May, including the next session of the Long-distance Creative Club, and I can’t wait to share stories from the trip.
There will be no Sunday Trouvailles this weekend, but you can still use the code to get 10% off a yearly subscription until Monday. Thank you for your support, as always, and I hope everyone has a great Easter break.
One of the reasons why I love Substack and blogs in general is that I can take the time to write about something without having to rush to post about it the minute it happened, or it would be “too late” and “nobody will care anymore.”
Two weeks ago, I visited the yearly art fair Art Paris for its 2025 edition. It was the first time since the reopening of the Grand Palais and I much preferred the wider space and the light pouring in compared to the temporary space they used in the past few years. I thought it would be fun to share a visual diary with some of my favourite works and interesting pieces and galleries.
If you visited during the day as I did, the natural light from the Grand Palais created some effects on the displays, reflecting the little lamps above the paintings, which was both fun to see but also slightly affected the attention you paid to the details of the pieces.

Her Art Prize for women artists
In collaboration with Marie Claire, this year, a new prize called Her Art was awarded for “both the career of a unique woman artist and a body of work that has pushed back the limits.” I didn’t love too many of the pieces selected and I thought there were other exhibited artists who would have been a great pick, but of course this is just my personal taste.
Two I really enjoyed discovering were French Vietnamese artist Thu-Van Tran, who had some pieces exhibited with different galleries:

And German artist Evi Keller at Galerie Jeanne Bucher Jaeger:

Agnès Thurnauer’s feminist work was also quite interesting:
Visual diary
Rather than sharing lots of thoughts about other artists that are just personal opinions and not proper art criticism, I wanted to show you other pieces I enjoyed as a sort of visual diary to show the beauty of their colours and textures:

💬 Do you have any favourites? Are there other contemporary artists you love? I’m always interested in discovering more.
Have a wonderful Easter!
I really enjoyed this tour of the art gallery. It's wonderful being able to see all that from my sofa in rural England! Thank you and enjoy your Japan trip!
